Jens

Name: Randio Osin

Pronouns: He/Him

Race: Hylian

Class: Poe Hunter, Spellsword

Appearance: Copper in colour and almost reaching to his shoulders, Randio's thick, wavy hair is the first thing that people will notice about him. Another distinctive characteristic is his slightly upturned nose. Despite spending considerable time outdoors, Randio has not developed a significant tan, although he does accumulate more freckles with prolonged sun exposure. His eyes are a deep blue color.

Standing at five feet and ten inches tall, Randio's height is average, allowing him to blend seamlessly within crowds of other Hylians. What sets him apart is his lean, athletic build, the result of years of rigorous training, courtesy of his parents. Based on knightly tradition, this training included disciplined exercises, combat practice, and survival skills essential for enduring Hyrule's wilderness.

Randio's preference in clothes can be described as simple. While his style may be straightforward, he chooses garments made from higher quality materials, usually cotton, with wool for colder weather. His wardrobe mainly consists of tunics and trousers, paired with durable boots and various belts. He'll usually be seen wearing any combination of reds, blacks, whites, and browns, though he occasionally opts for blue or green when feeling particularly brave.*

His favoured tunic, burgundy red in colour, is designed for maximum mobility in combat, and reaches halfway down his upper legs. This tunic is usually paired with black or brown trousers. For additional protection, he'll wear a black gambeson and sturdy leather brown vambraces. When traveling, he dons a thick cotton, hooded cloak and carries a brown backpack made from various sturdy materials, supplemented by a few leather pouches on his belt.

Weapons:
Regarding weaponry, Randio prefers the longsword, which he adeptly uses both one- and two-handed. Additionally, he carries a rondel dagger in a scabbard attached to the back of his belt for those up close and personal encounters. He also carries a bunch of tools like a small hatchet for woodcutting and a knife for all kinds of purposes. While combat is not their main utility, these tools can double as weapons if necessary.

Special abilities:
-    Healing magic: Randio was taught the basics of how to cure wounds through magical means by his mother. Having never taken the time to delve deeper into this art, he can mostly heal minor injuries. With more severe wounds, his magic can only speed up the healing process so much, provided that the wound is treated repeatedly and consistently.
-    Fire magic: Randio can convert magical energy into fire. He initially picked up this ability from a book, but his mother helped him refine it. It is a useful tool both inside and outside of combat. While his fireballs are not going to kill most creatures in one shot, they tend to be effective in scaring them off. Furthermore, it's always useful to be able to easily create campfires and keep yourself warm.
-    Spirit Sensitivity: In recent years, Randio has developed an odd sensitivity to the spirits of the dead. He can see, hear and sense their presence way sooner than most people would, and has had experiences where spirits have sought him out specifically.

Biography: Randio was born and raised in and around Hateno Village, the youngest of two children. Their mother Maela instructed her children in the magical arts, while their father Rodius would teach them how to handle themselves in a fight through the use of weaponry. Both parents made sure their children would learn how to survive in the wilderness outside of the safety of the village. They instilled in their children the importance of lending aid to those that need it and to use their skills to protect their fellow people. Both Randio and his sister Eira had little trouble adhering to their parents' philosophy.
From a young age, Randio was driven by his curiosity. When out in the field, he always wanted to see more. He needed to find out what was on top of that hill and what was behind that rock. Sometimes what he ended up finding was danger, reminding him of how harsh the world could be. While he may have learned to be more cautious, his curiosity never left him. For when there were no monsters to be found on that hill or behind that rock, there were sights to see that showed him even more of Hyrule's beauty, and that there were even more places to explore.

Randio has also made it his objective to improve himself constantly. He works tirelessly at getting better at swordfighting and learning about the subjects that interest him. It has never sat well with him how much better his sister was at almost anything, forgetting that she had several years of experience on him. He can on occasion get obsessive about being good and getting better at what he does, and can sometimes react disproportionately towards setbacks.

In recent years, the young Hylian has noticed he started experiencing things that were out of the ordinary. He started noticing the presence of people that others seemed to ignore. At first it was figures that seemed to appear out of nowhere and then seemed to disappear in the blink of an eye. At some point, these figures would become aware that he was aware of them, and started to seek him out. They started to "speak" to him without using words. All Randio could make out was complex emotions and vague concepts. Despite his curiosity, from that point he wasn't keen on interacting with the spirits, and tried everything to avoid them and ward them off. A certain spirit seemed to be particularly persistent in establishing contact with him. A young woman he did not recognise, from whom he could feel intense sadness and frustration. She kept appearing to him and trying to communicate with him, despite his best efforts to keep her at bay. Eventually, he decided that he needed to engage with her directly in some way. He started to think that perhaps she called out to him because she needed help. His parents lessons crossed his mind, and he decided to open up to the woman's spirit. Given that there was little information available on how to communicate with the deceased, Randio tried to figure it out through trial and error. Though she could not speak directly, with time, and through many frustrating attempts at conversation, Randio would find it more easy to decipher the messages she was attempting to convey. The woman was from outside Hateno, had died not too long ago, and had lost something, or someone, that she felt a deep love towards and wished to be reunited with. As he gradually learned about her, and he finally managed to link all the puzzle pieces together one night, he felt a need to help her, and promised the ghost that he would find a way to cross the barrier between them, so that he could understand her and help her reunite with what she lost. Though no words were spoken, Randio could feel a hint of gratefulness from what he started to consider a new friend of sorts.

Now, Randio has started to make preparations a long journey, for there is still much to figure out if he wants to help the lost lady, and any others that might seek him out in the future.

*The funny thing is that blue and green probably look best on him considering that he's ginger.
