I thought maybe we could start a free ranging chat thread, so everyone can talk about whatever they want at any time without having to log into the discord. Happy forum nostalgia times!

I've picked up baking this month and it's been pretty neat. I'm learning a lot

El

Oho~! What have you been baking? 👀 Feel free to share pics and recipes! I'm always on the look-out for things to snatch and potentially try for myself (Well, if they aren't too complicated, or require the legendary blue herb from the furthest western mountain and the bulb of a golden turnip pickled for two decades or something 🤣 )

Emily

Well, if you don't want the recipes that require the blue herbs or pickled golden turnips, I'm gonna have to narrow it down :c

But no, I'd be happy to share them! Maybe we can have a recipe thread or something for people to share things lol. It's all been attempts at using egg replacements on things. Luca's parents gave us this chocolate chip oat bar thing that's very good, but I've made four batches and only the last one seemed to be correct (though all have tasted pretty good). I've also made zucchini bread and a banana/blueberry/raspberry bread, both of which were very good.

Oh and I also did a breakfast patty recipe out of oats, flax, and lentils that turned out *really good*. I don't know how to notate all of these things for the chat thread, but if someone else doesn't start it, I might put up a recipe thread and we can just do that.

El

👀 All of those sound delicious!

Sounds like the oat bar recipe put you through the wringer before you managed to nail it down though! 😂 I'm glad the persistence paid off. I've gone through similar trials with a whole bunch of stuff, in no small part because a LARGE portion of the joy for me is in magicking up something out of 'nothing' - so substitutions are very common.

No worries if it's too much work/a farce, but I'd definitely be interested in the bread recipes and the chocolate chip oat bar if you get the time to share! I've been playing with various attempts at different breads myself lately but they've all been plain: I have yet to explore adding in veggies and fruits.

I've begun this thread! I was in the process of transferring some recipes I'd gathered online to print off and put in my collection, so it seemed like the perfect time to also start up the thread. The chocolate-chip oat bar and the zucchini bread were already on paper, so I haven't added them yet, but I will do so soon enough. For now, you've got the berry-banana bread. It's supposed to be blueberry-banana, but after adding the raspberries, I realised I will do that every time. You can do whatever berries you like, though, as long as it's 1c.

Also, if there's interest in me changing the measurements to metric, let me know and I'll do my best to add it! In Canada, we are fully metric except when it comes to cooking, so there's no point to shift cooking recipes for myself when all the equipment and oven are in imperial. But I'd be happy to do it in the thread if it would help others.

Oooooooh~! Thank you!!! 😍 I'll almost definitely be trying out that Berry-Banana Bread at some point, especially as I almost always have those things on hand. (Though alas, I have already eaten most of my bananas for this week so it'll have to wait.)

I do much prefer metric measurements but there's no need to change anything just on my account! 90% of recipes I look up end up using cups and such, so it's just something I've gotten used to googling 😆 And eye-balling.
